“This joint album from the Jupiter String Quartet and Jasper String Quartet is striking for its backstory but really memorable for its smart program and fine execution.”
– The Arts Fuse
“The performances captured here are artistically nuanced, executed with gorgeous technique and plenty of personality. In this time of COVID, making art and experiencing joy are both acts of defiance; the Jasper and Jupiter Quartets are defiant in all the right ways, and invite us to join in their joy.”
– Music City Review
“The Jasper and Jupiter Quartets deliver one of the best versions [of Mendelssohn’s Octet] available, with a crackling finale and plenty of energy throughout.”
– AllMusic
"Among other things, the recording is a celebration of family, friendship, and the fruits of collective labour, and both groups resoundingly benefit from the union.” “[In Visconti’s Eternal Breath] A ‘breathing' phrase is distributed in a manner symbolizing the breath of life passing from one generation to the next and through the expansion of family via marriage and partnership. Hushed, melismatic expressions by the strings gather to form a haunting atmospheric mass that entrances during the eleven-minute setting like a soft vocal cry."
– Textura
"These two ensembles blend into one majestic music making miracle."
– Only Strings
